Notes on the Wine
This is a velvety wine with layers of complex aromas. Chocolate spice, dark berries, coffee, caramel, and cedar. A fleshy mouthfeel is followed by flavors of bright, upfront, red fruit, a structured mid-palate, and a firm backbone of ripe tannins. This wine has impressive length and a lasting, elegant finish. This Merlot has the wonderful ability to age and be enjoyed for years to come.
Notes on the Producer
When Mike Duffy started his journey of making wine under his own label he started with a $5,000.00 tax refund. His vision was to create high end Cabernet Sauvignon. With very little capital Mike knew that could only take him so far. What he did do was create a brand called Fitch Mountain a quality everyday wine. In the beginning this was to be a wine that would be fazed out in the market once his premium wine hit the shelf. More than twenty years has past and his love for making Fitch Mountain has continued.
He fell in love with the vineyard and enjoys making quality wine at a value price. Over the years Fitch Mountain has produced Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Chardonnay from both Napa and Sonoma appellations. The brand has received may awards and press along the years. I think it is safe to say Fitch Mountain is here to stay.
