Notes on the Wine
We've had many wines named after all the wild wolves that have roamed the edge of the forest here in the mountains, or in the thick pine grove next to the vineyard by the lake in the Champlain Valley, but this wine, a special cuvée made in Vintage X (2019) for our ten year anniversary is named after an imperial and wild cat who graced our paths for a good number of years, an elegant and self-possessed creature with fur the color of smoke and eyes the color of citrine.
The wine is much like her namesake, grown in the vineyard just south of Vergennes and made from an early pick in a cool year of the usually fiery pink Frontenac Gris. This version is much paler, Champagne-colored with a fragrant floral nose, fruity, minerally, and textured on the palate. Grown on clay and limestone, the limestone really shines through. Perfect to ring in any of the holidays! Only 18 cases were made.
