Notes on the Producer
The Sesti estate consists of 102 hectares (254 acres) of land, of which nine hectares are planted to vineyards. The rest is given to olive groves grazing or woodland. The vineyards are in the enviable position of being on the southern slopes of Montalcino, where some of the most prestigious Brunello comes from.
In 1991, Giuseppe Maria “Giugi” Sesti planted vineyards on the slopes around his home, with his four children helping to plant and stomp grapes. Eventually one of these children, Elisa, joined the estate full time and now guides the winemaking and vineyard management. From the beginning, Guigi insisted on making completely natural wines, in this case meaning there is absolutely no chemical intervention in either the vineyards or the winery.
