Notes on the Wine
The 2019 Corvidae Riesling has a delicate nose showing hints of pear, lemon zest and tropical fruits as well as herbal and floral notes. On the palate there is medium acidity and a bright tartness of balance out the honeybomb sweetness and flavors of lemon curd, orange peel and fresh pineapple. This wine has a long, citrusy finish with lingering notes of lime.
Notes on the Producer
Corvidae is Owen Roe's value-driven second label. Much of the fruit for Corvidae is sourced from Owen Roe's 280-acre Outlook Vineyard. David O'Reilly is meticulous in the winery and in the vineyard for both Owen Roe and Corvidae.
Corvidae is Latin for the crow family of birds, which are a common presence in the eastern Washington vineyards. 'Rook' references the legendary luck associated with crows. 'Lenore' is named for Edgar Allan Poe's poem "The Raven.' 'Mirth' refers to an old nursery rhyme about magpies. More wines in the series will be named for other references to crows in folklore.
