Notes on the Wine
Rich and dark in color, this wine shows remarkable finesse for the vintage. This crowd pleaser has a nose of ripe blackberries and earth tones followed by a wine with good length, balance and a rich mouthfeel.
Notes on the Producer
Established in 1960 by Maurice Archimbaud , the Château de Montmirail is now managed by his daughter, Monique Archimbaud Bouteiller, and her children. The vineyard sitting on the two communes of Vacqueyras and Gigondas, is largely the work of Maurice Archimbaud who patiently built up the area based on the combination of two properties: a family farm, located in Vacqueyras he inherited from his father Gabriel Archimbaud, and on the vineyard Gigondas created in the sixties by clearing steep slopes Dentelles de Montmirail. Today the vineyard has 24 hectare in Gigondas and 20 hectares in Vacqueyras, which have a much sought after climate with a clay and limestone soil ideal for growing grapes.
