Notes on the Producer
Situated in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, in Morey-Saint-Denis, the house of the Domaine Georges Lignier remains traditional in its conception. Inhabited by generations of Lignier vignerons, it harbours domicile, office, cuverie and cellars. Georges works there with his wife Elizabeth, when they’re not out in one of the 100 parcels making up their 15 hectares of vines. Full, elegant and feminine are the terms that keep recurring in tastings of the wines of the Domaine Georges Lignier. Produced with an eye to origin and authenticity, these Moreys are ruby coloured, with a nose of red and black berry fruit, and fruity flavours with spicy oak and animal nuances according to their age and vintage. The grapes are vinified in open vats. Vinification temperatures are controlled according to the grapes of each vintage. Raising during 18 months in cask (50% new oak for the grands crus and 30% new oak for the premiers crus) completes the vigneron’s work.
