Notes on the Wine
Cuvée Tradition is made from 20 to 35 year od vines planted on sandy, gravely and flinty sods. The wine is attractive and fresh, nicely focused, offering savory notes of black cherry, blackberry, plum and red currant fruit Hints of licorice, anise and eucalyptus, typical of the grape, come together in the balanced finish. Pair with grilled meats or cheeses.
Notes on the Producer
The Gouron family has been producing wine for five generations at their estate in Cravant-les-Côteaux just east of the village of Chinon. Laurent and Stéphane Gouron tend the 72 acre La Varenne estate which is surrounded by forests. All of their vineyards are located within the Appellation of Chinon.
