White Hill highlights the unique salinity that comes through in the diatomaceous shale rich soils of Santa Rita Hills. The style of this wine will always be racier and with predominately neutral barrel fermentation with a small amount of stainless.
Notes on the Producer
Nikki and Jeff Nelson were brought together by a mutual passion for wine and food, and together have joined with Dragonette Cellars winemaker, Brandon Sparks-Gillis, to craft two very different and superb, small production Chardonnays from the Santa Rita Hills. Now only in their second vintage, the wines are still nearly impossible to find, but upon tasting, nearly everyone is an immediate convert. They blend two stylistically different wines, from seven vineyards, with a common pursuit of regional typicity. Little intervention, minimal oak, no additives or machines…just pure expressions of Chardonnay, created by nature. In essence, they let the vineyards speak, and thus create liquid from farming.
