Notes on the Wine
Bold and intensely vibrant Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc - distinctively Awatere Valley. This wine is sourced solely from our finest steeply terraced north-facing blocks on the OTU wine estate. The 2021 vintage may be considered one of the finest in recent memory, although crops were very low. Ideal conditions during ripening, followed by dry, warm weather led to rich, ripe grapes with excellent acid balance. To ensure added texture and depth, after fermentation, the wine was kept on light lees for six months until bottling.
Notes on the Producer
Our OTU Estate is located directly south of Marlborough’s Wairau Valley, in the Awatere Valley; the coolest and driest of Marlborough’s three sub-regions. Situated right at the edge of the ocean where exposed cliffs and untamed coastline meets our OTU Estate vineyard blocks, the growing season this far south in Marlborough is longer, with high sunshine hours and ripening is extended – allowing for a perfect balance of intense flavour, delicious acidity and ideal ripeness at harvest.
