Notes on the Wine

A wild, fun, and vibrant blend of Gamay and Chardonnay, quickly pressed with almost no color, the Punchline is a dynamic, aromatic, and crisp addition to the 2020 line up. Fresh, strawberry, lime blossom, orange, cherry and rose notes on the nose and palate are lifted by freshness from a bright palate. The finish is lively and pleasant and politely asks for fresh fruit and prosciutto as an accompaniment.

2020 was insane in every way possible, including our weather. What started off promising, with dry days and cool nights through August, got stressful when high winds brought fire and smoke over Labor Day. We were lucky being as remote as we are, and never saw smoke on the ground. That said, small berries led to small clusters and low yields of very good grapes and lovely wines but a scant few of them.

Notes on the Producer

The farm is the heart of what we do, so we make it our duty to honor and protect it. Both Vineyard and Winery are certified sustainable by the third party verifier LIVE (low input viticulture and enology).

We make sustainable wine because it tastes better and it ensures that our work does no harm to the land, the people, or the greater community. An accumulation of small decisions in the vineyard and winery, from cover cropping to our long-standing commitment to screwcap closures keep us deeply engaged and actively making the purest wines possible.

B-Corp certified in 2017, Patton Valley joins a community of over 2000 businesses meeting the highest standards of overall social and environmental performance and accountability and aspires to use business to solve social and environmental problems.
