Notes on the Wine
On the nose there is the nectar of field flowers such as camomile, elderflower, iris. Mineral on the palate with a finish of almond, typical of classic Garganega.
Vin Soave is the main production for the estate, an entry-level wine that nevertheless comes from vineyards farmed the same way as for Inama's reserve winesa little luxury for everyday. The wine is made from 100% Garganega in stainless-steel tanks to stress the importance of freshness and Garganega's floral notes. Along with the enhanced minerality from the vineyards' volcanic soil, the result is a wine with great versatility in combination with food.
Notes on the Producer
With vineyard holdings almost exclusively on the Monte Foscarino, in the heart of the Soave Classico district, there was little choice but to specialize in the production of quality wines. Giuseppe Inama, who gradually acquired a total of 74 acres in the most enviable sites, founded the estate in the 1960s. Stefano, Giuseppe’s son, assumed control of winemaking in 1992. Using Garganega, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc he has produced wines unique to the Inama brand.
Inama also grows traditional Bordeaux varietals on 60 acres in the Colli Berici, Italy’s oldest DOC for Cabernet and Merlot grapes; their Carmenère vineyards here date back to the 1800s. This historic, though little known zone south of Vicenza has a temperate climate and is marked by unique ancient geological seismic events calle “bradyseism”—volcanic ridges generating a soil extremely rich in trace elements and minerals. Inama feels this terroir is the most underrated and under-realized in Italy and his goal is to produce great wines from these hillsides.
