Notes on the Wine
This wine dons the album art of the contemporary south african jazz collaborative record, “indaba is,” a legendary musical compilation that weaves and bends together, etched with the ardor of the 52 musicians it contains. The wine it adorns takes encouragement from this collaborative energy - a blend of grapes from 5 different parcles - orangerie, hillside, kasteelsig, paarderberg & waterval - all dotted across the swartland & made whole by their togetherness - the combination of juice, 7 blissful days on skins and some cherishing, the whole greater than the sum of its parts. Drink with companions and music. There was never just one sound.
Notes on the Producer
In 2014, while living in South Africa as exchange students, we set off on a 20 hour bus ride along South Africa's southern coast en route to the wild coast, a remote part of the country - famously the birthplace of nelson mandela - for a week long backpacking expedition. On our second day, a wandering dog the locals called 'LUBANZI' began following us on our adventure. He stuck with us throughout our journey - for 6 days & 100 miles - until he disappeared in the middle of the night before our final morning. There's some poetic justice in that.
