Notes on the Wine
This award winning pear wine is fruit forward and highly aromatic with lingering tropical undertones. The pear continues on the palate with an exceptionally smooth and lingering finish. Its beautiful light golden color and layered, balanced body makes it a perfect appetizer wine to enjoy with friends.
Notes on the Producer
Maquam is a small, family-owned winery located on the shores of Lake Champlain in northwestern Vermont. Our award-winning, limited-production fruit wines – and new in 2020, grape wines – are crafted by the Brooks family on land that’s been in the family since the 1600’s.
Our fruit trees and bushes benefit from proximity to Lake Champlain’s nearby shoreline, resulting in an extended fruit-growing season. The still waters of St. Albans Bay and the temperate climate allows our black currants plenty of time to ripen – resulting in deep color and amplified complexity of flavor in our wines. With the opening of the new winery in Milton, Vermont, we will add acres of grapes each year, and look forward to making our first grape wine in 2020. Our chief winemaker and sommelier, Dominic Rivard, with 20+ years of experience in traditional winemaking techniques, employs extended barrel aging when required to bring out the best in our wines.
We have been honored with multiple awards for our wines, including “Fruit Wine of the Year” at the New York International Wine Competition, and silver awards for our Black Currant and Blueberry & Pure Vermont Maple Syrup wines at the 2019 INDY wine competition at Purdue University.
