Notes on the Wine

A mosaic of Pinot Noir from our estate, this wines is a mix of all our Pinot Noir clones. It saw mostly whole berry fermentation before aging, primarily in neutral French oak for almost a year. Driven with aromatics, the nose is bright, showing perfumed red fruits with undertones of earth and baking spice. The palate is soft and supple, with dark cherry flavors balanced by a delicate tension from the tannins — a classic representation of the Dundee Hills.

Notes on the Producer

Our Pinot Noirs are beautifully textured, expressing a combination of bright red fruit, earth, spice, and silky, fine-grain tannins and balanced acidity that will help the wines age for many years to come. The elements of our site all combine to create the perfect conditions for growing cool-climate wine grapes.

Bill’s father and uncle purchased our farm in 1943 to raise turkeys. Over the next five decades, they grew the farm from a small family operation into one of Oregon’s largest with nearly 700,000 free-range turkeys at its peak. He is one of 36 investors in Ridgecrest Vineyards, the first vineyard planted in what would become the prestigious soils of the Ribbon Ridge AVA. He purchases his family’s farm with the dream of cultivating a world-class vineyard and becomes a partner in Chehalem Winery.

Bill Stoller decided he wanted a small amount of estate wine to give to friends, family, and colleagues. The first vintage was made at Chehalem Winery. An Oregon native, Melissa had intended to practice naturopathic medicine but discovered her true passion was in wine after an internship with Cooper Mountain Vineyards in 2001.
